Day 1, May 1, 2022 Sunday: Leave the USA on an international flight to Tel Aviv
Day 2, May 2, 2022, Monday: – Arrive in Tel Aviv and transfer to Herzliya
Arrive in Tel Aviv and board a new, climate-controlled motor coach where our guide will greet us and give us an orientation of the land. Drive towards Herzliya. Check into our hotel on the coastal plains of the Mediterranean Sea. Dinner and overnight in the hotel in Herzliya. (D)
Day 3, May 3, 2022, Tuesday: Caesarea Maritima – Mt. Carmel – Megiddo – Nazareth – Tiberias
After buffet breakfast and check-out, depart for Caesarea Maritima. Visit Caesarea Maritima (included), a magnificent city with Roman, Byzantine, and Crusader ruins. Here we will elaborate on the story of the baptism of Cornelius, the first gentile convert into Christianity (Acts 10), and on the travels of Paul — those events that led Caesarea Maritima to become the springboard of Christianity to the West. We continue along the coast to Mount Carmel. Visit Mount Carmel, Muhraqa – The Place of Fire (included), and consider the contest between the Prophet Elijah and the false prophets of Baal (I Kings 18), discussing the reasons why the Prophet chose that place for the contest, and the lessons we learn from the story. Lunch (included). After lunch, visit Tel Megiddo “Armageddon” (included), reflecting over the future end of days battle between good and evil mentioned in Revelation 16:16 and the return of Christ. Along our visit we would see the Solomon city gate, stables and palaces from the times of Ahab, high place and the impressive water system dating to the 9th century BC. Drive to Nazareth and visit Mount of Precipice, the brow of the hill on which the city was built (Luke 4). There we will admire great view over the Jezreel Valley and reflect on the rejection of Jesus by his family and friends in Nazareth. Then we will check into our hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 4, May 4, 2022,Wednesday: Sea of Galilee Boat Ride – Ancient Boat Museum – Caesarea Philippi – Capernaum – Mt. Beatitudes – Tiberias
After breakfast, we begin our day early, with a sail on the Sea of Galilee on a replica of a boat from Jesus’ time (included). We will dock in Ginnosar where we will visit the ancient boat museum (included), containing a 2000- year old fishing boat which is a good example of how the boats looked like in Jesus’ time. Next, visit Caesarea Philippi, known also as Banias (included), springs from a source of the Jordan River, where Peter confessed that Jesus is the Son of God. We visit the high place seeing the gates of Hades, Augustus Temple and the High Place where the God Pan was worshiped. Depart for Capernaum. Drive along the Golan Heights reflexing about the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1-19). During lunch break you will have the opportunity to try St. Peter’s fish, commonly eaten by people in Jesus’ days (lunch included). We will visit Capernaum (included), hometown of Jesus as described by the Gospel, also Jesus’ Galilean ministry base. There we will see the house of Peter’s mother in law and the ancient synagogue where many of Jesus’ teachings took place. Visit Mount of Beatitudes where we enjoy its enchanting gardens and reflect over Jesus’ teachings of the Sermon on the Mount. Return to our hotel. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias. (B/L/D)
Day 5, May 5, 2022, Thursday: Jacob’s Well – Jericho – Old Roman Road – Jerusalem
After buffet breakfast and check-out, we leave Galilee and drive towards the city of Nablus to visit Jacob’s Well. We reach the Jacob’s Well, a place that became a setting for a meeting between Jesus and a Samaritan women. We will then continue on the Jordan Valley Road towards Jericho to discuss the history of the city that was conquered first by Joshua and the Israelites. Visit Tel Jericho (included), where we will see the location of city from the town of Joshua, view the Mount of Temptation. Then, enjoy panoramic tour of Jericho, seeing the Sycamore Tree reminding us of the encounter between Jesus and Zacchaeus. Lunch (included). We will then stop at the Old Roman Road that Jesus and others would have traveled on as we make our way up to Jerusalem. Check into our hotel in Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B/L/D)
Day 6, May 6, 2022, Friday: Western Wall Tunnels – Western Wall – Davidson Centre – Mt. Olives – Shepherds Fields – Bethlehem – Jerusalem
After breakfast, we drive to the Old City and enter the Western Wall Tunnels (included), reflecting on the massive stones which once formed the western exterior retaining wall of the Temple and reach the Warren’s Gate which is symbolic for Jews as it’s the closest point to the Holy of Holies which they can reach. Visit the Western Wall, called the Wailing Wall, a section of the Western retaining wall of the Temple Mount, and Judaism’s holiest site. Then, visit the Southern Wall Excavation site (included). Here we will walk on the very stones where Jesus trod to Herod’s “second temple”, and see the place where our Savior taught the Scriptures. Visit the Mount of Olives for a breathtaking view of Jerusalem and a panoramic photo. Our guide will point the most important sites in Jerusalem, then we will walk the Palm Sunday Road. Drive to Shepherd’s Field. Lunch (included). Visit the Shepherd’s Field where the angels appeared to the shepherds and announced the birth of Our Lord. These fields are also the setting of the Book of Ruth. Drive to Bethlehem. Visit the Church of the Nativity and view the actual place where Our Lord was born. Time will then be given to shop for olive wood and other items. Return to Jerusalem. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. Day 7, May 7, 2022, Saturday: Garden of Gethsemane – Kidron Valley – House of Caiaphas – Upper Room – Ecce Homo – Via Dolorosa – St. Anne’s Church & Pools of Bethesda – Garden Tomb
After breakfast, we start our day visiting the Garden of Gethsemane where amid the 2000 years old olive trees we see the Rock of Agony on which Jesus prayed and the nearby Gethsemane cave where Jesus often spent the nights at and where he was arrested at the hands of the High Priest guards. There we will pause for a prayer time in private garden (subject to confirmation). Later on we will walk along the Kidron Valley following the footsteps of Our Lord, seeing Absalom Tomb, Gihon Spring and Water Gate. We visit House of Caiaphas, the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu (included), where we can see parts of the streets that Our Lord was dragged on by his capturers. We will have a chance to visit and pray at the dungeon where He was kept overnight. Next, visit the Cenacle, that commemorates the Upper Room in which Jesus shared the Last Supper with the disciples. Then, visit the nearby King David’s tomb, a site which is considered to be the place of burial of biblical king. On to the Old City, where we reach Ecce Homo (included), the site named for Pontius Pilate's words “Behold the man”, where Jesus was beaten, crowned with thorns and clothed in a purple robe. We see the Stone Pavement called Lithostratos and have some time for prayers and meditations. We walk the Via Dolorosa following Christ passion towards the church of the Holy Sepulcher. Lunch (included). After lunch, visit Church of St. Anne’s (included), a perfectly intact Crusader church. It is a wonderful place to gather and sing a song (sometimes with fellow Christians from all over the world). There, we will also visit the Pools of Bethesda where the healing at the pool took place (John 5). To conclude our day, we visit Garden Tomb (included), a peaceful spot where we can remember Christ’s crucifixion, burial and resurrection. We see the Calvary and the empty Tomb. Celebrate communion service at the Garden reaching the climax of Pilgrimage at the empty Tomb. Return to our hotel. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B/L/D)
Day 8, May 8, 2022, Sunday: Temple Mount – Masada – Ein Gedi – Qumran – Jerusalem
After breakfast, we visit Temple Mount where the Jewish temple stood until it’s destruction in 70 A.D. Here we reflect over Jesus’ ministry at the Temple of Jerusalem, seeing the Dome of the Rock, a possible location of the Holy of Holies. Leaving Jerusalem, we will descend down to the Dead Sea and the wilderness of Judah. Our first stop will be Masada (included), the fortress built by King Herod the Great and made famous by the Zealots in 73/74 AD with the standoff against the Romans. We visit the fortress and see the ruins that are considered a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. We take cable car onto the mountain (included). We continue to Ein Gedi, an oasis in the desert where the meeting between David and King Saul took places (I Samuel 24) and where some of the psalms were written by David. We visit Qumran (included), where we can see the caves where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered and the buildings that formed the Essenes public center. Lunch (included). Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B/L/D)
Please note that, due to security reasons, the only items the visitors can carry into Temple Mount are telephone, small camera, notebook and a bottle of water. Groups are not allowed to enter with professional cameras, iPads, backpacks, purses, any religious symbols such as Bible or crosses as well as Swiss penknives and clippers.
Day 9, May 9, 2022, Monday: Allenby Bridge – Bethany Beyond the Jordan – Dead Sea Jordan
Buffet breakfast and check-out. Drive to Allenby Bridge to cross the Jordan border. We will make our way to Bethany Beyond the Jordan (included). We will have an opportunity to have our baptismal vows renewed here, the place where John the Baptist lived when he baptized Jesus. Lunch (included). Check into our hotel at the Dead Sea where you will have the chance to float in the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight at the Jordan Dead Sea. (B/L/D)
Day 10, May 10, 2022, Tuesday: Madaba – Mt. Nebo – Jerash – Dead Sea Jordan
After breakfast, we drive to Madaba (included) the sight of a mosaic map of Jerusalem from the Byzantine era. Then, on to Mt. Nebo (included), to stand where Moses stood to view the Promised Land. Next, visit Jerash (included), nestled in a quiet valley among the mountains of Gilead. Outside of Italy, this ancient Roman city is one of the most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world. Currently, its paved and colonnaded streets are home to soaring hilltop temples, handsome theaters, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and towers. Lunch (included). We will then drive to Amman to have a tour of the city. We return to our hotel at the Jordan Dead Sea for dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 11, May 11, 2022, Wednesday: Petra – Dead Sea Jordan
After breakfast, we begin a long day of driving through the Jordanian desert along the area called the Way of the Kings. On our way we will visit Petra (included). The “rose red city half as old as time”. This ancient Edomite and Nabatean capital is an amazing example of prophecy. We’ll see the spectacular “city of the dead,” with its famed gorge, ancient streets, temples, dwelling places and tombs, carved in the solid rock. Lunch (included). Then we arrive at El-Ji Post, and continue the one- mile journey on horseback, or walk, passing through the famous Siq (the natural gorge) and arrive at the Treasury. Enjoy Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant (included) – Option I. Transfer to the airport for your homebound flight – Option I. Day 12, May 12, 2022, Thursday: Departure
