Day 1: Friday (24th May 2024): Depart SFO to Tel Aviv
Day 2: Saturday (25th May 2024): Arrive Tel Aviv – Transfer to Herzliya
Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, we will be met by a representative who will assist us with passport control, we will then board our bus and drive to Herzliya/ Netanya. Dinner and overnight in Herzliya. (D)
Day 3: Sunday (26th May 2024): Caesarea Maritime – Mt. Carmel – Tel Megiddo – Nazareth - Tiberias
Today we check out from our hotel and start our day visiting the following Biblical sites: Caesarea Maritima (entrance included) the springboard of Christianity to the West (Acts 9 & 25), Mt. Carmel (1 Kings. 18) (entrance included), Megiddo (Armageddon; 1 Kgs. 9:15; Rev. 16:16) (entrance included) and Nazareth - Mount of Precipice (Luke 1 & 2), We proceed to Tiberias for Dinner and overnight. Day 4: Monday (27th May 2024): Caesarea Philippi – Tel Dan – Katzrin – Kursi – Jordan River
This morning we drive to the northern part of the country to start at Caesarea Philippi (entrance included) where Peter confessed his faith in The Lord (Mathew 16), we also have a chance to hike to the water falls there. We will then continue further north to visit Tel Dan (entrance included) where the golden calves were set and enjoy another nature hike. We then continue driving to Qatzrin (entrance included) to explore the ancient synagogue. We move on to Kursi (entrance included), an archaeological site containing the ruins of a Byzantine monastery. The place is identified as the site of Jesus' "Miracle of the Swine". We will end our day at the baptismal site for a chance to renew your baptismal vows. Return to our hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Sea of Galilee. (B, D)
Day 5: Tuesday (28th May 2024): Boat ride – Capernaum – Tabgha – Mt. Beatitudes – Chorazim – Mt. Arbel
This morning we rise at our hotel on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. We start our day with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee (included). We will also visit The Jesus Boat exhibition (entrance included). We will then include many Biblical sites along the shore of the Sea of Galilee: e.g., Capernaum (Matt. 4:13) (entrance included), the Primacy of Peter (John 21). Lunch of St Peter’s Fish. Mount of Beatitudes where we enjoy its enchanting gardens and reflect over Jesus’ teachings of the Sermon on the Mount. Continue to visit Chorazim (included), which was cursed by Our Lord because the people did not follow His teaching. We then return to the Sea of Galilee area to look at the amazing view of the lake from the top of Mount Arbel (entrance included), with the opportunity to hike down the mountain for those interested. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias. (B, D)
Day 6: Wednesday (29th May 2024): Bet Shean – Sheikh Hussein – Cross into Jordan – Nebo – Madaba – Petra
Today we leave Galilee to visit Beit Shean (entrance included) where we will visit Roman ruins and discuss the significance of this city and its connection with King Saul. We will then cross into Jordan via Sheikh Hussein Border. Visit Nebo, Madaba. Drive to Petra for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 7: Thursday (30th May 2024): Petra
Breakfast at your hotel. Visit the Red Rose city Petra. The “rose red city half as old as time,” This ancient Edomite and Nabatean capital is an amazing example of prophecy. We’ll see the spectacular “city of the dead,” with its famed gorge, ancient streets, temples, dwelling places and tombs, carved in the solid rock. Then we arrive at El-Ji Post, and continue the one-mile journey on horseback, or walk, passing through the famous Siq (the natural gorge) and arrive at the Treasury. Dinner and overnight in Amman.
Day 8: Friday (31st May 2024): Allenby Border – Cross in Israel – Masada–En Gedi Dead Sea
After an early breakfast we drive towards Allenby Bridge to recross into Israel. Visit Masada and consider the hitorical events that happened there. We will then visit En Gedi where David and Saul had the encounter. End of the day will be at the Dead Sea floating in the water. We will then enter Jerusalem and have a Genesis welcome on Mount Scopus as you get your first view of the Holy City. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B, D)
Day 9: Saturday (01st June 2024): Mt. of Olives – Church of Agony – Bethlehem – Shepherds’ Fields After breakfast, we start our day for an orientation of the City of Jerusalem form the Mount of Olives where our guide will point the most important sites in Jerusalem. Then we continue our walk on the Palm Sunday Road to reach the Dominus Flevit. Then we will go to Gethsemane with its ancient olive grove, and there visit the Church of Agony, where Jesus prayed and was arrested (private time will be given in the private section of the Garden). Travel to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. We begin with a visit to the Shepherds fields where the angels appeared to the shepherds and announced the birth of Our Lord. These fields are also the setting of the Book of Ruth. We will then travel to the Church of the Nativity and view the actual place where Our Lord was born. Time will then be given to shop for olive wood and other items.
Day 10: Sunday (02nd June 2024): Western Wall Tunnels – Southern Steps – City of David – Hezekiah’s Tunnel – Pool of Siloam – Yad Vashem
In the morning we will enter Jerusalem through the Dung Gate and walk to the holiest site in the whole Jewish world, the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) of Herod’s temple. At this point we will enter the Rabbinical Tunnel (entrance included) where we get as close to the temple as allowed without being on the Temple Mount. Here you will see the foundation stones of Herod’s wall surrounding the Temple Mount. We will then visit the Southern Steps (entrance included), the main entrance to the Temple and the Teaching steps where Rabbis such Gamaliel used to teach. We will then visit the City of David (entrance included) and consider the origins of the city of Jerusalem, here you will have the chance to walk through Hezekiah’s tunnel, a 1749-foot-long tunnel that was built by King Hezekiah as he fortified the city of Jerusalem against the Assyrian King Sennacherib. Then we will visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum, for a needed reminder of what the Jews have suffered during WWII. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. (B, D)
Day 11: Monday (03rd June 2024): Temple Mount – St. Anne’s Church – Upper Room – Caiaphas House – Via Dolorosa – Holy Sepulcher – Garden Tomb
After breakfast at hotel, we will ascend the Temple Mount, the 35- acre temple area purchased by King David (2 Sam. 24:18-25) On this site now stands the magnificent Dome of the Rock (the third holiest shrine in all Islam) and the El Aksa Mosque. As we leave the Temple area, we will proceed to visit the Church of St. Anne (entrance included), which is also the site of the Pools of Bethesda (John 5). Please note that, due to security reasons, the only items the visitors can carry into Temple Mount are telephone, small camera, notebook and a bottle of water. Groups are not allowed to enter with professional cameras, iPads, backpacks, purses, any religious symbols such as Bible or crosses as well as Swiss penknives and clippers. We will then visit the Upper Room, where Jesus spent those last momentous hours with His disciples before His passion, and it was also here where the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples on Pentecost. We visit the house of Caiaphas (entrance included), where Jesus was tried and where Peter denied Our Lord. We then walk the Via Dolorosa to the sisters of Zion Convent (to see the Pavement where Jesus stood as he was being tried by Pilate) and the Ecce Homo Arch (entrance included), and then follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher where Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected. Late in the afternoon we will visit the Garden Tomb (entrance included) and celebrate a communion service. (B.D)
Day 12: Tuesday (04rd June 2024): Fly Home to SFO
Today we leave Israel on an international flight back home with unforgettable memories.
